VITAMIN B-12

(METHYLCOBALAMIN)

Essential B12 for Energy, Nerve Health, and Vitality

Methylcobalamin is the active form of vitamin B12, a crucial nutrient that helps utilize fats and carbohydrates for energy and supports the production of new proteins. Vitamin B12 plays a vital role in maintaining metabolism, blood cells, and nerve function. While most people get enough B12 through their diet, certain health conditions like intestinal or stomach issues, poor nutrition, cancer, HIV, pregnancy, old age, veganism, and alcoholism can cause a deficiency.

Low levels of vitamin B12 can lead to fatigue, anemia, and more severe symptoms such as joint pain, memory issues, depression, poor muscle function, and neurological problems like ataxia and changes in reflexes. B12 deficiency can also impair fertility. Early treatment is essential to prevent long-term effects on heart and neurological health. Methylcobalamin supplementation is particularly beneficial for individuals with the MTHFR gene mutation, which can impair the body’s ability to convert folic acid into its active form. People with this mutation may need methylated forms of B vitamins, like methylcobalamin, for better absorption and effectiveness. Methylcobalamin supplementation can also benefit those with conditions like pernicious anemia, diabetes, neuropathy, and Alzheimer’s disease, and may improve energy, memory, mood, and concentration.
